Who's behind StatJolt

Big tech analytics tools were hard for me, friends and clients to use. Setting up cookie banners properly takes time and we needed legal advice as well.

There are open source tools but most of them needed me to maintain a server. I also tried other products but some of them were either pricy or I missed some functionality.

So I built StatJolt. Independent. Self-funded. Servers in the EU.

Questions people ask before signing up

Do I need a cookie banner?

No. StatJolt sets no cookies and stores no personal data. In the EU that means no consent banner for your analytics.

How do you count unique visitors without cookies?

We turn each visitor's data into a code, so nobody knows who they are. This code changes daily, so the same person on two different days looks like two different codes.

Is it really legal to run with no banner?

Yes. Seven EU authorities (Austria, France, Italy, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden) ruled that Google Analytics breaks the GDPR because it sends data to the US. StatJolt runs on servers in Finland, sends nothing to the US and collects no personal data. There is nothing that needs consent.

Do you track my visitors across sites?

No. No cookies, no stored fingerprint, no profile. Data is counted in totals only. A visitor cannot be followed from one site to another or from one day to the next.

Can I bring my Google Analytics history in?

Not yet. Run both tools side by side while you switch. Your StatJolt history starts the day you add the code. Keep GA4 open for the old numbers as long as you want. Import is on the roadmap.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Open Site settings, the Export tab and download a ZIP with one file per report: visitors by day, pages, sources, entry and exit pages, locations, devices, browsers and custom events.

Is a small tool enough for my site?

For most sites, yes. You get visitors, sources, pages, devices and countries, plus user journeys, funnels, Core Web Vitals and error tracking. If you need session recordings, visitor-level data or a data-warehouse export, StatJolt is not built for that.

Will it slow my site down?

No. The script is about 17 kB, roughly a third of the Google Analytics script. It loads without blocking the page. Faster pages are better for your visitors.

Does it work with my setup?

Yes. Two short lines of code work on any site: WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, plain HTML or a JavaScript app like React, Vue or Next.js. Plugins for WordPress, Joomla and Drupal are available.

What exactly is the badge?

A small "Analytics by StatJolt" link. You choose where it sits and how it looks. It is how the free plan stays free until 2027.
